THREE EVENT FULL SLATE SHOOT-OUT WEEKEND FOR DAVID PAYNE & GIBSON MOTORSPORTS

Chattanooga, TN (9/30/08) -- Three events are on the slate for David Payne and the Gibson Motorsports as the Lucas Oil Dirt series invades for the annual SHOOT-OUT Weekend at the Swims' Dixie and Rome Speedway's Friday and Saturday nights. The weekend will actually get rolling on Thursday as Ray Cook presents the TARHEEL 50 at Steve Morris' Tri-County RaceTrack in Brasstown, NC. The event is in The COACH's backyard and pays $3,500. to-WIN. The team plans on competing with the Hicks chassis racecar, that they tested with a few weeks ago at the track, during a regular Super Late Model event. Payne and the team rolled into Cleveland Speedway for a regular SLM race, late this past Saturday evening after a rainout postponed the Advance Auto Parts THUNDER series event on day at Volunteer Speedway in Bulls Gap, TN.

Payne started the 30 lap, $1,200. to-WIN feature, 17th and without hot laps, qualifying or heats worked his way thru the field to a solid 6th place finish. Returning to THE GAP the next day, The COACH failed to make the 'A' Main feature through qualifying and tried racing his way into the show. Despite missing the transfer spot, The COACH entered the special SUNOCO SHOOT-OUT where unfortunately the # 8 'Payne
Tire & Racing, Base Racing Fuel & Oil'' sponsored MasterSbilt / Racetek, Pontiac Gran Prix blew a motor and would finish 10th in the twelve (12) car field. 'We're working on getting out Racetek engine back so we can go to Rome and Dixie' stated Payne. Friday's Rome (GA) International Speedway pays $10,000. to-WIN, while Dixie's Saturday night SHOOT-OUT pays $15,000. to-WIN.
